KASH Engages with Kilifi County Leadership and World Bank on KISIP II CDP Projects

Keeping Alive Societies Hope (KASH), as a technical support partner under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project Phase II (KISIP II), participated in a high-level consultative meeting with Kilifi County leadership and the World Bank KISIP II Programme team on 22nd April, 2026, to review progress and align on the implementation of Community Development Plan (CDP) projects across the county.

The meeting was hosted by H.E. the Governor, Gideon Maitha Mung’aro, together with the Deputy Governor, Flora Mbetsa Chibule, and the County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Energy, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Jane Kamto. The World Bank and KISIP II programme delegation included Irene Mugo (World Bank representative) and George Arwa (KISIP National Coordinator), accompanied by a team of technical experts from the State Department as well as from the Implementing Partner, KASH. At the meeting, KASH was represented by Martha Opilli, the Programme Manager/Community Development Specialist.

Deliberations focused on key priority investments identified by the community members under the CDPs, aimed at improving infrastructure and livelihoods within informal settlements in Kilifi and Malindi municipalities. The projects discussed included the upgrading-Construction of a Recreational Facility – in Mazingira Park located in Mtaani settlement in Sokoni Ward, construction of market stalls in Kalolo settlement, Public improvement space –Construction of public waiting bays, hospital canteen and cabro paving works – in front of Muyeye Health Centre  in Shela Ward, improvement of sanitation facilities at Charo wa Mae Market at Kibaoni settlement  in Sokoni Ward, and cabro Making training which will be hosted by Sokoni and Muyeye Vocational Training Centres at   Sokoni and Shella Ward respectively .

These interventions are expected to significantly enhance access to essential services, improve sanitation standards, and create sustainable economic opportunities for residents in the targeted settlements.

KASH reaffirms its commitment to supporting Kilifi County and partners in ensuring the effective and timely implementation of these projects. Strengthening collaboration between county leadership, development partners, and local communities remains central to achieving inclusive and sustainable urban development outcomes.
